About God

We believe in the one true God, the Creator of the universe. Who exists in three distinct persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God), who was born of the virgin Mary and became flesh and blood to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the world.

About Salvation

We believe that the blood of Jesus shed on the cross provides the only basis for the forgiveness of sin and for us to come into a relationship with God. Therefore, salvation is God's free gift to those who repent of their sins and place their personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives.

About the Scriptures

We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God as that men were moved by the Holy Spirit of God to write the words of scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and that it teaches and equips us to live a Godly life.

About the Christian Life

We believe all should live for Christ, and not for themselves.  We do this by obedience to the Word of God and by daily yielding to the leadership of the Holy Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit provides every Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right.

About the Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the head.  The members of the church are those who have received by faith God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.  The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him, worshipping Him, and by making Him known to the lost world.

What We Believe

Mount Gilead Baptist Church

God Loves you and has a plan for you!

The Bible says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life."  (John 3:16)

Jesus said, "I came that they might have life and have it abundantly." A life full of meaning and purpose.

But, there's a problem.

Human beings are sinful and separated from God.

All of us have done, said or thought bad things which the Bible calls "sin." The Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23). That includes everyone.

That's the bad news. Now for the good news!

God sent His Son to die for your sins.

Jesus died willingly in our place on the cross so we could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever.

"God demonstrated His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8)

But, the story doesn't end there. He rose again and still lives!

The Bible says, "Christ died for our sins...He was buried...He was raised on the third day, according to the scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

There is only one way to God and that is through Jesus. He said Himself, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me." (John 14:6)

Would you like to receive God's gift of forgiveness?

We can't earn it. We receive it as a free gift when we place our faith in Jesus Christ. All you have to do is admit you are a sinner, believe that Christ died for your sins and ask for His forgiveness. Then turn from your sins - that's called repentance.

We suggest praying the following prayer to accept Christ as your savior.

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of all my sins. I now accept you as my Lord and my Savior. Thank you for hearing my prayer and for loving and forgiving me. Guide my life from this day forward and help me as I follow you. In Jesus' name, Amen."

If you prayed that prayer, tell someone today. If you have further questions, you may call Pastor Richard Brown at 910-864-5888 or 910-824-2175.
